Dinner Plans?

Another product of a bygone era at Walt Disney World. Making reservations at WDW's three hot spots back in 1978 was as simple as mailing in a card.

Foodles...for Me and Yoodles

Everytime I go to a grocery store, besides the two I frequent, I always find all kinds of goofy and/or cool blogworthy items. Last week while shopping at a gigantic new store in town I spotted these kiddie food trays from afar. I noticed that the shape of the tray resembled Mickey, and then when I got closer I saw some familiar faces staring back at me!

There's several different varieties of Disney Gardens' Foodles, all of which contain a combination of three different healthy snacks in kid sized portions. You might think that $3.49 is a lot to pay for 1/3 of an apple, a handful of pretzels and six grapes...but did I mention that the package is shaped like Mickey!?!

Seriously, it's a pretty neat little treat for kids. And you have to give Disney some credit...they could slap their characters on sugary-sweet breakfast cereal or potato chips (and they have) but they are trying to make a move to associate Mickey and the gang with good food choices for kids. Now, if we can just get somebody to make Batman Broccoli, I might get my kids to eat some veggies!

Hidden Mickeys: Homemade Edition

This is the kind of thing that separates the casual Disney fan from the kind of Disney fan that names their child after Walt Disney. This is also the kind of thing that could have gotten a fella on the Johnny Carson program. Perhaps you do this too, but my family and I see Hidden Mickeys everywhere. Not just in the Disney theme parks but in the world around us. Like this slice of green pepper here on the right. That's one whole slice, don't ask me how it came out that way!? I just took the picture! Here's some more...

You can make Mickey shaped fried eggs, but it's not every day the yolk just plops right out of the egg and onto the frying pan in a perfect Mickey shape.

This Mickey cloud is extra special. Not only is a big ol' Mickey looking down on us from the heavens, but we spotted this happy cloud at Walt Disney World on the first day of our trip last year as we were heading to the parks for the first time. How cool is that?

I guess this one is kind of a stretch, but this is the way the salad was handed to me at a local restaurant. The dimensions of this Hidden Mickey are too perfect to just overlook...and then eat!

I probably would have not even noticed this parking lot oil slick slightly reminiscent of Mickey except that the parking lot in question is the Disney Cruise Line parking lot. We spotted this "out-of-shape" Mickey after a 4-night cruise back in 2005.

Chipmunks In Your Freezer

When it comes to frozen novelties, it's hard to beat a Mickey-shaped ice cream treat. However, Chip n' Dale had a run in the early 90's with very pleasant results. These tasty fudge flavored treats featured the likeness of both Chip and Dale with either a chocolate or cherry flavored candy as the nose. They were the perfect after-school treat while you sat down to watch The Disney Afternoon. Chip n' Dale Rescue Rangers Fudge Bars debuted in 1991 and were produced by a company known as Gold Bond. I assume NOT the same company that makes Medicated Foot Powder.
