Breakfast with the Chipmunks

Here's the original flyer for one of the earlier versions of a character meal at Walt Disney World. "Chip & Dale's Country Morning Jamboree" was a revamped version of "Breakfast with Melvin the Moose" another old school character offering. The shows kind of served as an early morning edition of the Hoop Dee Doo Musical Review. They served plenty of food, offered a family-friendly Hee-Haw style show and provided guests interaction with Disney characters - mainly the Country Bears and then later Chip n' Dale were added to the mix. It appears the Ft. Wilderness breakfast shows sprung up in the mid-80's but were all but a memory come the early 90's.

All I can really offer you here is a scan of the brochure. If you want more info on this attraction check out Walt Dated World for pictures, memories and a little more detail.

Il Libro della Giungla

Today's little offering is some unusual depictions of characters from The Jungle Book by Italian Disney comic artist Giovan Battista Carpi and Claudio Mazzoli. These appeared in an English translation of an Italian Disney Encyclopedia series back in the early 70's. First up is King Louie dressed for either a night out on the town or an audition for a local dinner theatre production of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. Down below we have a cool picture of Chip n' Dale grabbing a ride on Bageria's back. This picture isn't all that crazy, but I always love when characters from different films interact. (How cool would a cartoon of Chip n' Dale annoying Bageria be?!)

And last we have this picture...I'm not sure what the scenario is supposed to be here. It appears Donald Duck is dressed as a Canadian Mountie and raking Baloo's back. I'm sure Baloo appreciates a good back raking, but I don't thing this would make as good a cartoon as Bageria and Chip n' Dale.

Chipmunks In Your Freezer

When it comes to frozen novelties, it's hard to beat a Mickey-shaped ice cream treat. However, Chip n' Dale had a run in the early 90's with very pleasant results. These tasty fudge flavored treats featured the likeness of both Chip and Dale with either a chocolate or cherry flavored candy as the nose. They were the perfect after-school treat while you sat down to watch The Disney Afternoon. Chip n' Dale Rescue Rangers Fudge Bars debuted in 1991 and were produced by a company known as Gold Bond. I assume NOT the same company that makes Medicated Foot Powder.
